FAQs - Licensing
What are the usage rights / licensing arrangements? In general, the idea is that the Tvids are used for testing encoders, so in most cases pretty much anything you would do (including demos) is permitted by the licensing agreement, with no royalties / usage fees. Have a look at our license agreement. (For academic institutions there is an additional license agreement: please contact for details.) Are there any royalties / usages fees? No. (Only an initial license fee.) Why are the clips licensed only per site? Due to the nature of the test clips, there is no rights control built-in. So we have to take it on trust that our customers abide by our licensing agreement, regarding usage and number of copies on a site. This is just about practical when on a single site, but with a multi-national company with multiple sites, it would be virtually impossible to monitor the number of copies across multiple sites amongst a number of development teams. So restricting each purchase to a single site makes it just about feasible to keep control of the number of copies. For bulk pricing of licensing on multiple sites please contact . Can I see the license agreement? Click the image below to see a PDF of the license agreement. This agreement is included as part of our Terms and Conditions of Sale (and is included in each user manual). |
