Great Video for Testing Encoders, Equipment & Broadcast Systems

Tvids comprise over 2,000 uncompressed YUV video clips divided into several sets for testing / stressing video encoders, at resolutions from 80x60 web size, mobile, all the way through NTSC, D1 PAL, HD to 4K D-Cinema and everything in between.

And high quality 3D stereoscopic video - see T3D003 Europe for more information.

Benefits

The benefits to the content producer/post-production company are:

  • Comprehensive test coverage with most types of video
  • Covers almost all common sizes of video: from tiny 80x60 all the way to 4K D-Cinema
  • Includes not only common 8-bit per sample video but also far less common 10-bit, 12-bit and 14-bit video
  • And not only 4:2:0 but also 4:2:2 and 4:4:4
  • Fully documented, making it easy to find specific clips or features
  • With associated audio to make it easy to determine if audio/visual sync is lost during encoding
  • and now easy play-out of all SD, HD and 2K Tvids on HD-SDI using TvidsNXS (uses Aja boards)

A full list of the sets of video available and other products is on the Products Summary page.

3D stereoscopic video (separate L+R)

These comprise uncompressed YUV video in Left + Right pairs, at HD and 2K resolutions, with audio.

2D video

There are several 2D Tvids sets, at sizes from low resolution (mobile), through HD and to D-Cinema with high bit-depth and high chroma.  All are uncompressed YUV, with audio.

A/V sync video

These sets of video are designed to test audio/video sync and other critical video features as media passes through a broadcast chain.  There are uncompressed and compressed versions of the sets of video.

Real-time play-out software and hardware

The TvidsNXS software with associated AJA hardware boards allow the 2D and 3D Tvids sets of video to be played out on an SDI link in real-time, or captured from an SDI link.
